Literary Saloon

Roger Farr & Reg Johanson at the Railway Club

The Short Line Reading Series reinvents the literary salon at the Railway Club. On Tuesday February 13th, Roger Farr and Reg Johanson will read from their new books SURPLUS and Courage, My Love (LINEbooks 2006).

Roger Farr is currently completing a book of essays, Protest Genres and the Language of Dissent (forthcoming 2008) and a second book of poetry, Homage to Charles Fourier. Farr teaches English and Creative Writing at Capilano College. As of September, Farr will also be teaching English courses for CultureNet – Capilano College’s new Associate of Arts Degree in Culture and Technology.

Reg Johanson’s Courage, My Love (LINEbooks 2006), brings together a selection of works that have appeared over the last decade in W magazine, the chapbook Chips (Thuja 2001), and in the anthologies Shift and Switch: New Canadian Poetry (Mercury 2005) and Companions and Horizons (WCL 2005). Recent critical work by Johanson on Standard English as a classist and racializing disciplinary practice, and on the political economy of “cheating” and plagiarism, has appeared in XCP: Cross Cultural Poetics. Johanson also teaches English and Creative Writing at Capilano College.
